My name is Jim Fackler and I balance aircraft
components. Well, a little more than that since dynamics in aircraft
covers helicopter track and balance, engine vibration survey, Health
and Usage Monitoring, and ride quality assessment among other
things. This includes
lecturing, instructing and writing on the subject. Based in Southern
California, my service area covers San Diego to Sacramento, and the
Coast inland to Phoenix. I travel out of state, and occasionally
overseas for special projects.
I joined the California
Army Guard in 1973 and worked as a prop and rotor technician for a
number of years before joining Chadwick-Helmuth, makers of the
Vibrex system, a truly revolutionary instrument for helicopter track
and balance. While there I authored The Smooth Propeller, considered
the bible of dynamic balance for recip powered aircraft, which is
also FAA approved source data. Managing the Applications Engineering
department provided invaluable experience in dynamic mapping,
bracket fabrication, data acquisition and analysis, all the
way through the final procedures document. After 22 years I left
Chadwick-Helmuth and began a service business providing dynamic
services to the aviation community (among others).
I’m a private pilot with over 2000 hrs PIC with
an instrument and sailplane ratings, and an A&P with both airframe
and powerplant ratings. I also carry a DOT FAA drug cert for Part
135 operators.
Most importantly, I do quality work.
